Frequently Ask Questions.

Explore common questions about our sound testing services, acoustic solutions, and how we help create quieter, better-sounding environments.

Acoustic testing measures sound insulation between rooms and floors in buildings. It's required by Building Regulations Part E to ensure adequate noise control in residential and commercial properties. Testing confirms your building meets legal sound insulation standards.

Testing should be done after all sound insulation measures are complete but before final finishes like carpets or decorating. This allows time for any remedial work if needed. We recommend booking tests 2-3 weeks before your planned completion date.

We carry out two main types of testing:

  • Airborne sound testing - measures sound transmission through walls and floors (voices, music, TV)
  • Impact sound testing - measures footstep and impact noise transmission through floors

Testing typically takes 2-4 hours per property, depending on size and number of tests required. We'll provide a clear timeframe when we quote for your project.

Don't worry - we provide detailed guidance on remedial measures needed to achieve compliance. We'll retest once improvements are made.

We typically deliver detailed reports within 48-72 hours of testing completion. Rush reports can be arranged if your project has tight deadlines.

We're based in Bedford but provide acoustic testing services nationwide across the UK. Travel costs are included in our competitive quotations.
